Ameristar Fence Installation: The Riverside Owner’s Guide
Ameristar fence installation in Riverside typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete system installed by a licensed contractor. We stock Ameristar-compatible posts, rails, brackets, and gate hardware on the truck, and most residential replacements are completed in one to two days. The most common call we get starts the same way: a homeowner notices a sagging gate, a leaning line post, or a rail that pulled loose from a bracket, and the fence is no longer the squared-up property line it was the year it went in.
Riverside’s hard-packed adobe soil shifts with every wet winter and dry summer. That movement puts constant pressure on fence footings, and Ameristar’s steel systems are rigid by design. When the ground moves and the fence doesn’t, something has to give. Usually the post shifts in the concrete, or the bracket screws wallow out, or a gate post begins to lean into the header. That’s the fix we’re talking about here.
Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar builds steel fence systems under several lines you’ll see throughout Riverside: the Montage line (their welded, residential-grade ornamental steel), Echelon (heavier-gauge for estate and commercial applications), and the Aegis industrial series. Most Riverside homes we work on have Montage panels, which are welded rather than mechanically fastened, meaning the panel itself rarely fails. What fails is the connection between panel and post, or the post’s grip on the ground.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that trips up a lot of homeowners: Ameristar Montage panels are 20-gauge steel with a 1-1/4″ picket and a 2″ x 2″ rail profile, and the hinge brackets are punched specifically for that rail dimension. A generic hardware-store bracket will not seat on that rail correctly. You’ll get sag or a hinge that binds. We match replacement brackets to the panel’s punched holes and use the OEM rail profile, because anything else works loose inside a season. Aftermarket brackets exist for Ameristar, and some are acceptable for non-gate panels, but for a swinging or rolling gate we stay close to OEM spec. A gate carries weight every day, and Riverside wind doesn’t help.
Bradford Remodeling is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Ameristar. What that means for you: we install to Ameristar’s published specifications, but we’re not tied to a factory sales script, so we’ll tell you straight when a quality aftermarket part is fine and when it isn’t.

Signs Your Ameristar Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t latch after rain. The gate post has shifted, or the hinge bracket has lost its fasteners. Riverside’s soil absorbs winter rain, swells, then contracts to dust in summer. Each cycle loosens the post one degree at a time until the latch won’t meet the striker.
- Line post leans out of the concrete footing. The original pour wasn’t deep enough or the concrete has cracked from soil movement. We routinely see footings in Riverside set at 18 inches where code and soil conditions call for 24 inches plus.
- Rail pulls loose from the bracket at the post. The factory screws have stripped or sheared. This is the most common failure on Montage systems after 8 to 12 years, especially on the west-facing side of a Riverside yard where afternoon heat and occasional Santa Ana wind work the metal hardest.
- Top rail flexes when you push on it. Brackets are intact but the post itself is loose below grade. The fence is standing, but the structure is compromised. A hard shove or a climbing kid can bow a panel past its yield point.
- Powder coat has flaked to bare steel at welds. Riverside sun breaks down coating faster than coastal climates do. Once bare steel is exposed, rustworks into the weld seam. It doesn’t fail the fence this year, but you should address the coating before the next wet season gives rust a toehold.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Complete Ameristar fence installation in Riverside, including posts, concrete, panels, brackets, and labor, runs between $3,500 and $9,000. A single gate replacement with post reset and new hardware typically falls on the lower end, around $3,000 to $5,000, while a full perimeter with two or more gates on a quarter-acre lot runs $7,000 to $9,000. What drives the number is linear footage, gate count, and whether existing posts can be salvaged or must be dug and re-poured.
Every Bradford quote is in writing before any work starts. No numbers that move at the door. That written line item includes materials, concrete, labor, haul-away of the old pipe, and a signed scope of work. What it doesn’t include: change orders hidden in fine print. When Curtis Lane prices an Ameristar replacement, he walks the line, measures the actual panel count, checks the post conditions, and puts a real number on paper. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the final walk.
DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner can safely check a few things: measure your panel height (36″, 42″, 48″, 60″, and 72″ are Ameristar’s standard residential heights), verify your line style, and count posts. You can also test each post by hand for movement at grade. If a post wobbles, you have a footing problem, not a hardware problem, and that’s not a weekend fix.
Where DIY goes wrong is the gate. A sagging gate is often the hinge bracket, not the panel, and if you use the wrong bracket profile you’ll have the same sag in three months. Gate posts under tension are also the one place where we insist on a proper footing. A falling gate is dangerous. Don’t fix a gate post with a bag of quick-set from the home center. Call us at (424) 567-8472 and we’ll tell you what the fix actually involves, and what it costs, before anyone schedules a truck.
FAQs

A correctly installed Ameristar Montage fence in Riverside lasts 20 to 30 years on the steel structure, with hardware and gate hinges typically replaced at the 10 to 15 year mark. Riverside’s heat and the area’s shrink-swell clay soils shorten hardware life compared to coastal installations. Call (424) 567-8472 if you’re seeing sag or rust at the connections, and we’ll give you an honest lifespan read on what you have.
In most cases, yes. We reset leaning posts in new concrete, swap out failed brackets, and rebuild gate assemblies without pulling the entire fence line. If the steel panels themselves are still straight and the coating is mostly intact, repair is usually the right call. The exception is when the powder coat has failed broadly across multiple panels and rust has thinned the pickets. Get a written quote and we’ll tell you which side of that line your fence is on.
Most Riverside residential installations take one to two days for demolition and set, with concrete cure time of 24 to 48 hours before we hang the gates. We sequence the job so the old fence is down and the new posts are in concrete the same day. You won’t have a hole in your property line overnight. A full quarter-acre perimeter with multiple gates runs three to four days, and our crews keep the site clean through every stage.
We stock common Ameristar Montage brackets, post caps, and gate hardware on the truck, and we can have most panels or custom-gate components in hand within 48 hours from our supplier network. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for interior work, but the fence side of Bradford runs on Ameristar specs, because that’s what Riverside homes already have in the ground.
